EDITORS’ PREFACE

Welcome to diode 5.1. This issue marks our fifth year of existence, and we want to use this preface to thank everyone who has made it possible for us to get here: the poets and writers who consistently allowed us to publish issues that we’re proud of; the readers, old and new, who have been instrumental in keeping us going; and our family and friends who put up with us even when working on diode meant less time spent with them. Mostly, though, we want to step aside and let this issue speak for us. We think the work within says more than anything we can say about what diode is, and what we hope it continues to be for many more years. It is an honor to present this issue to you.

We hope you will join us at the upcoming AWP Conference and Bookfair in Chicago to help us celebrate our fifth year. diode will have a table at the Bookfair, and we’ll be co-hosting a reading/birthday party with Barn Owl Review, also celebrating its fifth anniversary.
