Recipe for the After-After World
Snuff a peppercorn in your nostril like Rameses
& sneeze all the way to the next place.
Or soak your ribs in honey, turn your skeleton
crunchy & mellifluous. Show up candy boned.
In the after-after world, arrive
marinaded in beef tallow, goose-gorged
and liverslick. Ready to be shucked.
Listen: the gods of the after-after world
are always hungry, so be the wet feast
you want to see in the world. Be the girl
with meat flanks & tripe out.
Listen: we’re all just punctured meat sacks
trying to keep our guts from drooling, so
gorge, gorge & pepper nose, my sweet.
Make your sack a stuffed shank, bloated with
rosemary. Lie back, for we shall soon be devoured.
